BOLTON, MASS.
Attributed to Massachusetts itinerant painter Deacon Robert Peckham, the 28- by 24-inch canvas sold to a phone bidder for $182,500 (est $15/25,000).
The first 200 lots of the sale, featuring nautical art and antiques, were drawn from the collection of the late Edward B. Thomas. Highlights included the painting “The Whaleship Gay Head” by William Bradford, $94,000 ($35/45,000), that sold to a seated bidder in the room.
