A Walk in the Woods
The Art of John Elwood Bundy at Eckert Fine Art
INDIANAPOLIS, IND. – Eckert Fine Art will host “A Walk in The Woods: The Art of John Elwood Bundy (1853-1933)” through December 2.
Featured is a collection of drawings, watercolors and major oils by the Richmond, Ind. artist. Dr William H. Gerdts, author of Art Across America, contributed a scholarly essay on Bundy included in the gallery’s 48-page catalog.
Bundy was the dean of The Richmond (Indiana) Group of painters and was a contemporary of the Hoosier Group artist Steele, Stark, Forsyth and J. Ottis Adams. Bundy taught art at Earlham College in the 1890s, but devoted himself exclusively to painting after that. He exhibited regionally and nationally, including The Art Institute of Chicago, Pennsylvania Academy of the Fine Arts, The National Academy in New York, The Hoosier Salon, among others.
