NEW YORK CITY — “AI God: Portrait of Alan Turing,” a 2024 mixed media on canvas by Ai-Da (Aidan Meller), the world’s first ultra-realistic robot artist, sold at Sotheby’s for $1.08 million, including buyer’s premium. It was considered a tribute to Alan Turing, the British mathematician whose pioneering research paved the way for modern computing and artificial intelligence. It had been exhibited at the United Nations in Geneva in 2024, at the AI For Good Global Summit, where it was part of a five-paneled polyptych by Ai-Da. The painting, which measured 64 by 90½ inches, was one of 17 lots in the firm’s November 7 Digital Art Day Auction that totaled $1,250,640 and was nearly 89 percent sold by lot.
