BRANFORD, CONN. — On April 20, New England Auctions by Fred Giampietro hosted the Americana Collection of Jeannine Dobbs & the Estate Jonathan Rickard, offering 445 lots of Americana and British ceramics with selected additions from different categories. The auction totaled $620,078, including the sale of a zinc and tin figural eyeglasses trade sign that was bid to $11,125 ($1,5/3,000) by a collector in the Midwest. Signed by F.P. Tomkins, the sign showed all original paint and was created circa 1865, which made its excellent condition all the more remarkable. Prices quoted with buyer’s premium as reported by the auction house; more on this and other top treasures of this sale to follow.
