NEW HAVEN, CONN. — On the weekend of June 25 and 26, a two-day Americana extravaganza sale took place at Fred Giampietro’s New Haven Auctions. The first included the collection of Luis Arroyo and the second was a diverse offering of Americana categories from various estates and collections. The G.O.A.T. of both sales was a carousel goat associated with carousel builder Gustav Dentzel (1846-1909), attributed to Salvatore Cernigliaro (1879-1974), which retained 99 percent of its original paint and was in excellent condition. The goat trotted off with $23,560. More on this sale in a future issue.
