Following a residential burglary here on November 5, 2006, the homeowner reported that ten pieces of antique stoneware were missing, along with other items, including candlesticks, serving spoons and forks and place settings. The burglary is being investigated by the Southington Police Department.
Total estimated value of the missing items was placed at $8,180. Antique stoneware included an E&LP Norton Bennington, Vt., 2-gallon jug, circa 1861–1881, with bird on branch design and a crack on one side; an FB Norton and Son, Worcester, Mass., 4-gallon crock, circa 1880–1900, with a large blue flower design; an E&LP Norton Bennington; Vt., 5-gallon crock, circa 1861–1881, with a large flower design; and a Norton & Fenton, Bennington, Vt.; 3-gallon pear-shaped jug, circa 1845–1847, with light flower design and a “spider hole right front.”
Also included is an E&LP Norton, Bennington, Vt., 1-gallon jug, circa 1861–1881, with a small flower design; an E&LP Norton, Bennington, Vt., 2-gallon jar, circa 1861–1881, with a large flower design; an L. Norton, Bennington, Vt., 2-gallon jug with bird on twig (head turned back); an Edward Norton, Bennington, Vt., 4-gallon crock, circa 1883–1894, with flower design; an E&LP Norton, Bennington, Vt., 1-gallon crock, circa 1861–1881, with small flower design; and an E&LP Norton, Bennington, Vt., 1-gallon jar, circa 1861–1881, with small flower design.
