The combination of a couple of tables laden with good things to eat and drink and an extensive selection of antiques spread out over 11,000 square feet of exhibition space on two floors, brought out a good crowd for the annual open house at Antiques at Ivy Hall on Thursday, October 25, an event that runs at the same time as Burk’s Greater York Antiques Show at the York Fairgrounds.
The open house, which continued through the weekend, drew in more visitors than last year. Greg Mummert, owner and manager of Ivy Hall, said, “We had a great day on Thursday when many of the dealers from the York show came over, and it continued right through the weekend. Sales were very good, and people seemed to enjoy themselves.”
Since last year, about 2,000 more square feet of exhibition area has been added, complete with special lighted display cases, and portioned off into room settings. Utilizing two floors, the shop now accommodates about 65 dealers, and “we are planning on developing more of the building for display areas,” Greg said. When the shop reaches its final capacity in a few years to come, about 100 dealers will be able to display their things there. At present, there is a waiting list of about a dozen dealers ready to move in.
