Antiques dealer Dale Pregent was elected mayor of Keene, N.H. (population 25,000), on November 6. Pregent will officially take office on January 1, for a term of two years, giving up the city council seat he has held for the past six years.
With his election, Pregent will continue to work hard for the citizens of Keene to ensure the high quality of life that has been established in the past, including environmental issues and spending control. Pregent, 70, who is semiretired, is still active in the antiques business, participating in various shows, including the Deerfield, N.H., show in August and helping his son, who is an auctioneer in Keene.
