WOLCOTVILLE, IND. — In the span of four days — October 12-15 — Strawser Auction Group offered a total of 2,266 lots of antiques, glass, ceramics and majolica. Earning top lot honors in the first day, in the antiques auction, was a 98-inch-tall Black Forest grandfather clock carved with bears. Bidders chased the monumental timepiece, which had been estimated at $4/6,000, to $33,000 paid by a new client to Strawser who lives in New York and who has a lodge. Other highlights from the four days of auctions, which were more than 98 percent sold, include a monumental Minton majolica ewer and a Mount Washington Napoli oil lamp. Prices quoted include the buyer’s premium as reported by the auction house; watch for a recap of additional highlights in an upcoming issue.
