HONG KONG — On February 27, Dore & Rees, in partnership with Argent, Hong Kong, presented 66 lots of glass, silver, fine art and antiques in Part I of “Property of a Gentleman – Single Owner Auction.” With an international roster of bidders providing competitive bidding online and by phone, the sale achieved a total of $214,500. At the top of the sale was Jules Blanchard’s (French, 1832-1916) marble figure of a bathing nymph, carved in 1874, that had been acquired by the seller in 2009, when it was auctioned at Christie’s. Estimated at $18/22,500, it sold for $39,375, including the buyer’s premium, to a bidder in the United Kingdom. More highlights from this sale will be featured in an upcoming issue.
