COLUMBUS, OHIO — A cut and blown clear-glass garniture, decorated with fan cutting and a sulfide bust of a gentleman, soared from a $300/600 estimate to $20,400 including the buyer’s premium, outpacing more than 1,000 other lots to achieve top-lot status in Amelia Jeffers’ two-day Great Estates auction, March 21-22. The 7½-inch-tall piece sold to an Ohio phone bidder, who Jeffers said was “someone I have known for years since my days at Garth’s. He was a long-time buyer there, too.” Additional highlights from this sale will be discussed in an upcoming issue.
