NEWTON, MASS. — Tremont Auctions’ June 19 sale had a variety of Russian decorative arts. The top lot of the day, cataloged as possibly being Russian, was a 29¼-inch bronze mounted, two handled, cut glass urn. With figural cherub handles, it sold for $26,910, 13 times the high estimate. The sale included numerous paintings, Midcentury Modern furniture, Georg Jensen silver, numerous French and German dolls, some American furniture, a military appointment signed by Abraham Lincoln and more.
The second highest priced lot of the sale went to a large two-color Grueby vase with molded leaves and yellow flower buds that attained $14,625 from a dealer in the room.
