Carlton A. Thatcher, 63, died peacefully July 5, at home surrounded by his family. He was the husband of Doreen (Girouard) Thatcher, with whom he shared 22 years of marriage and ownership of Acushnet River Antiques Company in New Bedford, Mass.
Born November 2, 1948, in New Bedford, a son of the late Edith (Smith) and Robert Thatcher, he had lived in New Bedford for many years before moving to Fairhaven five years ago. He was a graduate of Holy Family Holy Name High School and attended Graham Junior College in Boston.
He was most happy spending time with his wife and family having a good old-fashioned cookout and vacationing in Sarasota, Fla., and Disney World.
In addition to his loving wife, he is survived by his sons, Owen Thatcher, and his wife Julie and their daughter Galaxy, of New Bedford; and Daniel Thatcher of Onset; his brother, Robert Thatcher of New Bedford; and his stepson, Stephen Szymanski, and his wife Maria, of New Bedford.
Services took place at Waring-Sullivan Home of Memorial Tribute at Fairlawn and St Mary’s Church, both in Fairhaven.
