ASHEVILLE, N.C. — On September 11—12, Brunk Auctions conducted a lively sale that totaled $1,939,684, its sixth auction of the year. Leading the 673 lots across the block was an oil on canvas by Childe Hassam.
The painting, “Walking on the Pier, Gloucester Harbor,” was estimated at $300/400,000 and when the dust settled, it attained $495,600, including premium. This important work, painted in 1895, by the prolific Impressionist will be included in the forthcoming catalogue raisonné of the artist’s works.
