HUDSON, N.Y. — A gilt-zinc and copper cockerel weathervane, J. Howard & Co., Bridgewater, Mass., 25 by 26 inches topped Stair Galleries’ March 11 Americana auction when it fetched $17,000, well above its $4/6,000 estimate. With provenance to American Hurrah Antiques, New York, the vane came out of the collection of Joan Oestreich Kend.
