CRN Sells ‘Top-of-the-Line’ Regency Chairs
CAMBRIDGE, MASS. – On November 11, Carl Nordblom of CRN Auctions sold a pair of English caned armchairs for $29,900. “These are wonderful, exciting chairs,” Nordblom commented. “They are Regency chairs from about 1810 with a well-preserved old surface.
“They are a particularly high-style version of the form,” he continued, “and finished with excellent details. For example, the lion heads on the handholds are strongly carved with character, and then at the base of the arm support there are well-rendered lion feet. This is the top-of-the-line version for this form.”
Bob Jackman will provide a full report of this sale in an upcoming issue of Antiques and The Arts Weekly.
