Edmund Richard Bierylo of Grantham, who was well-known in the antiques community as co-owner, with his wife, Marilyn, of Falcon’s Roost Antiques, died June 22, at the Clough Center at New London after a courageous battle with Alzheimer’s disease.
He was born in Norwich, Conn., August 31, 1925, to Michael Bierylo and Frances Walisiewicz. He graduated from Norwich Free Academy in Norwich, Conn. He joined the Marine Corps where he served in World War II and the Korean War and was honorably discharged.
Ed married Marilyn Stadtmiller of Olde Lyme, Conn., on September 19, 1970. After retiring from Suburban Propane Gas Company in 1986, Ed devoted his time to his antiques business with Marilyn, specializing in American furniture, tall clocks and decorative accessories.
Ed and Marilyn moved to New Hampshire in 1986 to continue their antiques business in shows, a shop and also managing the Thetford Antiques Show for Latham Library for many years. They were members of the New Hampshire Antiques Dealers Association and did its show for many years. In addition, they were active members of antiques dealers associations in Maine and Vermont. Their activity in shows included many for Betty Forbes, Russell Carrel and Nan Gurley.
In addition to his wife of 37 years, Ed is survived by two daughters, Michele Hitchon of San Juan Capistrano, Calif., and Cydna Spellman of West Covina, Calif.; a stepdaughter, Susan Tyndall of Waupaca, Wis.; stepsons Jeffrey Stadtmiller of Boston and Mark Stadtmiller of Grantham; two grandsons and five step-grandchildren. He was predeceased by his parents and his brother Stanley.
Memorial services will be conducted at Community Lutheran Church at 96 Main Street in Enfield, N.H., Tuesday, July 10, at 2:30 pm with full military honors. Burial will be private in New London, Conn.
