The Collection of Katherine Henrietta de Stuers
Kaminski Auctions proudly presents a unique opportunity to acquire rare fine art and
antiques from one of the foremost aristocratic European family collections developed
over the last two centuries. Katherine Henrietta de Stuers, a descendent of President
Theodore Roosevelt and John Jacob Astor, was born in the Historic Landmark castle of
Champvent, Switzerland, to Hubert de Stuers, long time ambassador of the Netherlands
to France and close personal friend of King Alfonso XIII of Spain. Katherine’s father
Hubert, himself a philanthropist and great art enthusiast, famously continued to enrich
the collection of the family’s prior generations. Treasures at auction include an exquisite
portrait by Jan van Ravesteyn, whose work can be seen in the Metropolitan Museum of
Art, The National Gallery, and in major leading museums around the world; an engraving
of Comtesse de Bonneval by Carle van Loo; and a portrait of Finance Minister Louis III Phélypeaux, Secretary of State and Minister of Finance under King Louis XV of France.
On offer is an exquisite variety of objects dating back to the 14th Century.
