Although in a rural location, this is not a typical “country”auction, but rather a sale featuring formal furniture made for prominent Providence families by the late 18th and early 19th C. Rhode Island and Massachusetts master craftsmen.
Articles include: Queen Anne lowboy, two serpentine-front bureaus, Sheraton sideboard of small size, tallcase clock by Daniel Munroe, E. C. Spooner barometer, chairs and benches in needlepoint , two Louis Vuitton trunks, old painted wooden tavern signs. A feature of the auction is a Tiffany 8-piece tea and coffee service (weight in excess of 25 lbs.), provenance Josephine Lippincott of Hartford and Philadelphia. Landscapes and nautical paintings will be strong, as will old maps and some 1st edition books.
