Friday, October 19th session will include the last of the documentary textile fabric sample books from the laboratory at Fashion Institute of Technology. There are outstanding selections of printed silks and cottons from the mid-19th Century through the 1940s. Most are large format books custom bound, labeled and slipcased. Following the sample books, we will have our regular catalog sale of couture, textiles and accessories, then conclude with the discovery sale.
Saturday, October 20th Session will include couture, textiles and accessories from the same collections with important examples from major design houses, including Dior, Worth, Chanel, Balenciaga, Fortuny, Paquin, Pingat, LeLong, Gaultier, Fath, YSL, Lacroix, Adrian, McQueen, Trigere and others. Good accessories including a private collection of parasols, umbrellas and carved handles.
This season the Charles A. Whitaker Auction Co will bring to market selected deaccessions from the Metropolitan Museum of Art, the Museum at the Fashion Institute of Technology, Museum of Fine Arts Boston, a prominent Virginia museum as well as several University and private collections, including the estate of Mary Doering.
