In support of the Great American Songbook Foundation, Guernsey’s will be
conducting a monumental, unreserved auction of the contents of Asherwood, one of America’s most prominent homes. The event will be taking place live at the stunning Indiana property on November 17 and 18. Simultaneous to the preview exhibition on Nov. 10, 11 and 16, a tag sale of many lesser-valued items from the Estate will be held.
The unreserved (no minimums) auction will be the first time the public will have access to the fabled estate where more than one thousand lots of antique and bespoke furniture, furnishings and decor, substantial works of art, outdoor garden objects, Oriental rugs, leatherbound books and countless smaller objects all will be sold.
Situated on more than one hundred acres, the 50,000-square- Foot mansion, massive guest house, and private golf clubhouse were generously donated to the Great American Songbook Foundation by Bren Simon, wife of the late respected commercial real estate developer, Melvin Simon.
The Great American Songbook Foundation and its founder, Michael Feinstein are dedicated to preserving America’s rich musical legacy as created by such legendary composers as George and Ira Gershwin, Irving Berlin, Cole Porter, Rodgers and Hammerstein, and Lerner and Loewe.
Attending the auction at Asherwood will, no doubt, be memorable, but for those unable to be there in person, absentee bidding will be available via LiveAuctioneers.com and Invaluable.com.
