Stack’s Bowers Galleries to Present The Larry Ness Collection of Indian Peace Medals

Stack’s Bowers Galleries will be presenting The Larry Ness Collection of Indian
Peace Medals as part of their upcoming official auction of the Whitman Coin & Collectibles Spring Expo, March 18-20, 2020, in Baltimore, Maryland. The Ness Collection will be offered on site in the Baltimore Convention Center, Thursday afternoon at 3:00 PM ET with live internet participation. The catalog is available online at Stacksbowers.com where you can also register to bid.
Larry Ness set out to complete the Indian Peace Medal series, acquiring specimens from many sources. He had remarkable success acquiring silver originals, collecting 36 examples, including the impressive First Size 1862 Lincoln medal in silver shown below. Bronze medals include the important rarities of the later Oval series. Also showcased is a representative collection of French, Canadian, and most notably, British medals. The latter group includes a remarkable pair of prized Lion and Wolf medals, one of which is pictured at left.
