Flying Pig Auctions is pleased to present The Norman “Joe” Allard Estate at unreserved auction! Joe was a longtime New England antiques dealer. He began collecting bottles in the 1960’s, later branching off into stoneware and redware. His wife, Ann, was a collector of great primitive & country antiques. Through their many years of buying & selling, they acquired some wonderful treasures. Joe’s pride & joy was his QA tiger maple tea table found in the top of a RI barn. The farmer he bought it from held it under his arm and scraped the paint off the leg with a pocket knife to show Joe the wood was “good”. Joe cringed as the farmer ran his knife along the leg and those two small scars are still visible on the leg today. That table, as well as many of the remainder of the items that decorated their home over the past 60 years, are being offered as the nucleus of our next auction and will be complimented by other contributing estates from MA, NY, CT including stoneware; redware; baskets; porcelain, glass & pottery; furniture incl stepback cupboard, early tables, drying rack, chairs incl Windsor & Shaker; Child related incl books, toys, teddy bears, etc; Many painted country treen items incl bowls, buckets, boxes, gameboards, etc; Native American incl rugs, pipe, pottery, baskets, Skookum, etc; Wonderful textiles incl quilts, homespuns, samplers, etc; Paintings; Mirrors; and too much more to list here.
