Smith’s is proud to offer an original ink sketch by Henri Matisse, authenticated by Wanda de Guebriant and Georges Matisse of Archives Matisse. The piece, titled “Odalisque,” and dated 1928, comes from the collection of Robert Raley, a renowned Baltimore Maryland architect and great patron of the arts. His collection included art by Auguste Rodin, Gaston LaChaise, Pietro Consagra, and many more. This piece was first purchased by Raley at Sotheby’s in 1965, and a certificate of authenticity was issued to Spanierman Gallery in 1997 by Wanda de Guebriant. Georges Matisse, the current authority, has confirmed its authenticity in 2020.
Many other important works of art from 17th C. Old Masters to 20th C. Luigi Lucioni will also be up for bids, plus estate jewelry, decorative arts, antique carpets, American and European furniture, Steinway piano and 3 great antique cars, 1915 Model T tourer, 1927 Model T Hack and a 1948 Woody beach wagon.
