We will be offering a large selection of artwork with a heavy focus on South West Artists such as Helen Hardin, Pablita Velarde, Tammy Garcia and Allan Houser. Mediums include paintings, bronzes, stone sculpture, etchings, engravings, copper-plate prints, pottery, jewelry and beadwork. Stained Glass window studies and paintings from the storage facility of world-renown stained glass window makers Wilbur H Burnham & Son, Boston.
Selection of photography includes many daguerreotypes and later photos including silver tone by Edward Curtis. A Boston area estate yielded materials descended from Daniel Clark Sanders, the first President of the University of Vermont and later pastor of the Medfield, MA Congregational Church. Items include his portrait daguerreotype, document box with many of his hand written sermons. Other items include 18K gold pocket watch/chronometer by James Nardin, clockwork walking doll, early jewelry, silver buckles, miniature portraits, important bronze by Glenna Goodacre, coins, Canton China, 1835 Astrological Atlas, 9 tube Tiff any grandfather clock with Durfee movement and more.

Legare Auctions will offer an interesting selection of important artwork with an emphasis on Southwest artists along with an array of quality smalls including daguerreotypes and a silver-tone photo by Edward Curtis, an 18K gold pocket chronometer by James Nardin, a clockwork walking doll, and early jewelry.
“We are pleased to bring some exceptional examples of Southwest art to the market,” said Legare. “The works, which represent the collection of a couple that divided their time between the Northeast and Santa Fe, include paintings by Helen Hardin (Tsa-Sah-Wee-Eh), Pablita Velarde, Will Shuster, and Ray Naha. Among the highlights are sculptures by Allan Houser and Tammy Garcia.”
“Storage units sometimes contain unknown treasures,” said Legare. “A local storage facility yielded a selection of paintings and studies by the world-renowned stained glass window artists of Wilbur Herbert Burnham Studios in Boston to be featured in this winter sale. The Wilbur H. Burnham Studios records are in the Archives of American Art at the Smithsonian Institution.
The auction also offers an insight into New England history with material descended from Daniel Clark Sanders, the first President of The University of Vermont and later pastor in Medfield, Mass. Among the items from this Boston area estate are Sanders’ handwritten sermons, a daguerreotype of Sanders, a clockwork walking doll, early jewelry, and a handsome miniature portrait.
