With Crocuses promising warmer weather, the next Connecticut River Book Auction will be held on Thursday, April 15th and Friday, April 16th as an absentee book auction in South Glastonbury, CT. It features over 200 lots. Of interest is a consignment of 1908 New Orleans papers promoting the Mardi Gras and an invitation to the 1908 Mardi Gras “Comus” Ball. In full color, each publication spotlights a group’s floats and parade presentation.
To the art, bibliography, history, children’s, exploration, numerous miniature books and fiction to be offered, this sale has an 1845 two volume copy of Catlin’s “North American Indians,” a set of Darwin’s works and volumes signed by Pearl S. Buck, Poet Robert Frost and others. Ephemera aficionados will be pleased with two 1800’s Glastonbury, CT. Concert Broadsides, travel souvenir booklets, postcards and two British ceremonial swords.
