With haying well underway across the Connecticut River Valley, the next
Connecticut River Book Auction will be held on Friday, July 9th as a live in-person
book auction in South Glastonbury, CT with over 200 lots for sale.
Of interest are two huge ex library volumes of Boydell illustrations of Shakespeare,
a 1st edition of Sparks (1839) “Life of George
Washington,” with Sparks signature laid in, a matted
and framed autographed picture of Harietta Beecher
Stowe, a hand written document by future President
Grover Cleveland when he served as Sheriff of Erie
County, Smith’s (1855) “Map of Hartford County,
CT.” and Chapin’s (1853) “Ornamental Map of the
United States with the New Western Possessions.”
To the art, history, children’s and fiction to be offered, this sale has several
nice lots of Franklin and Easton Press books, signed Eric Sloane volumes, and
signed volumes by Norman Mailer, Bill Clinton, Ted Cruz, Ralph Nader and
others. Joining several lots of artwork are five 18th and 19th century lap top
writing desks just waiting for you to sharpen that quill pen and get to work on
long overdue correspondence.
