SUDBURY, MASS.— Tremont auctions will hold its Annual Fall auction on Sunday, September 19, at 10 am. Public previews will be held beginning September 15 or any day prior by appointment. Catalogs are available online now and can be found at www.tremontauctions.com.
The auction of more than 600 lots will begin with a session of 200 lots of silver and estate jewelry. This will include jewelry by Tiffany & Co. and David Yurman, and various fine lots of jewelry and rings with a selection of good watches. The silver includes high-quality American and European holloware and flatware with an interesting Tiffany & Co. inkwell and a Victorian medallion decorated coin tea set.
A group of good-quality bronzes will include an important antique Antoine-Louis Barye “Cire Perdue” bronze of “Theseus Slaying the Minotaur.”
Modern furniture includes a rare Diego Giacometti design square bronze coffee table.
A selection of 150 lots of artwork will include several Hudson River and White Mountain landscapes, modern works by Hunt Slonem and John Wilde and more, European artwork by Unterberger and Burkel, several old master paintings and prints and many others.
A nice selection of period furniture from a Wellesley and Northampton, Mass., collection includes fine classical pieces, an attractive Hepplewhite breakfront and a rare 48-inch-wide New York Federal diminutive sideboard.
The sale also features several very high-quality weathervanes like a leaping stage by Washburn and two horses by A.L. Jewell and Rochester Iron Works.
A very good collection of 20 Swiss music boxes from a local estate includes high-quality tabletop and floor-standing models.
The sale will include a selection of good Chinese export porcelain and other fine ceramics like early Haviland & Co pottery and Kate Greenaway ceramic pattern drawings from the family of Charles Haviland.
Curiosities will include a terrific Art Deco 18K gold and amethyst 1928 gift from J.P. Morgan to President Hoover.
