VERNON, N.Y., & CHESTNUT HILL, MASS. — Kaminski Auctions presents two virtual onsite auctions on Saturday, July 24, where the auction previews will take place on site in Vernon for the estate of Pat and Nathan Kornfeld, and in Chestnut Hill, where the auctioneer has been commissioned to sell the living estate of Sylvia Sacks Rudolph from her home at 75 Woodchester Drive, Chestnut Hill, Mass.
All previews for the Saturday auction are onsite at the above addresses Saturday, July 17 and 18 from 10 am to 4 pm, with pickup at the sites on Friday and Saturday, July 24, 30 and 31.
Bidding will take place live at the Kaminski gallery starting at 10 am on Saturday and by Internet bidding, phone and absentee bid.
The Kornfeld estate highlights include a mahogany sideboard with brass lion’s head hardware; a Nineteenth Century continental marble top chest with bronze paw feet and brass hardware; a giltwood framed mirror with floral and ribbon motif; a Nineteenth Century Chinese carved wood stand with ball and claw foot and a scalloped marble inset on top, together with a Chinese glazed pottery jardiniere. A period Federal gilt-framed convex mirror with intricately carved eagle and attached side three-arm candles sconces is sure to garner interest.
Fine art features a woodland scene with cows by the Danish artist Adolf Henrik Mackeprang (1833-1911), a nude female painting by Antonio Biancalani (Italian, b 1948) and two antique portraits, the first is the Countess of Pembroke and one of the Eighteenth Century actress Sarah Siddons.
Collections of miscellaneous porcelain pieces include Mottahedeh, Dresde and Meissen, along with an English Grosvenor bone china dinner service for 12 in the Lytham pattern. A large Doulton Burslem porcelain punch bowl in the Beverley pattern and a pair of Coalport, England hand-decorated porcelain covered mantel vases round out the top lots of porcelain.
A pair of decorative bronze five-branch candelabra, fruit, vine and leaf motif, standing 25 inches in height, is also a featured lot.
The Sylvia Sacks Rudolph collection features a selection of H. Sacks & Sons Inc. for the Marlboro Manor line of furniture as well as silver, china, glassware and Midcentury Modern furniture.
Standout pieces include a H. Sacks & Sons Inc. for Marlboro Manor inlaid mahogany “Sewall” breakfront with carved crown, four upper glazed doors and two doors with flamed medallions and checkered inlay, marked inside a drawer with the “Marlboro Manor” brass tag. There is also a pair of H. Sacks & Sons Inc. for Marlboro Manor mahogany “Kingsbury” wine cabinets with flame mahogany medallions, checkered inlay and lion’s head brass pulls. A Sheldon mahogany chest-on-chest features drawers inlaid with rosewood and holly, brass hardware made in the Sacks workshops, reeded columns and bracket feet. Also featured is a Sacks & Sons Inc. mahogany double-pedestal dining table with carved pedestals and brass paw feet, featuring three leaves, custom pads and extra rails.
Fine art from the estate includes a Jean-Pierre Dubord (French, b 1949), signed oil on canvas painting, titled “Marche aux Fleurs Place de la Madeleine a Paris” in a carved gilt frame, a Henry Moore (1898-1986), woman and child lithograph, pencil signed in the lower right and editioned 70/100.
From Shreve, Crump & Low Co. comes a collection of six framed antique botanical chromolithographs by Louis Van Houtte, circa 1840-1890, and a Shreve, Crump & Low Co. sterling three-piece tea set to include teapot, cream and sugar, together with a Crown silver plate handled tray. An English silver plate tea service with a Crown Silver Co. tray, 30 inches across by John Turton of Sheffield is sure to garner interest. A Reed & Barton sterling flatware set in the Burgundy pattern includes a partial service for 12, plus serving pieces, monogramed “R” and weighing approximately 126.3 troy ounces.
Noteworthy Asian items include a late Nineteenth Century carved wooden Quan Yen standing 45½ inches tall and a Chinese watercolor of woman and child.
Midcentury Modern highlights include a Paul McCobb (American, 1917-1969) eight-drawer mahogany chest, labeled, “H. Sacks & Sons Inc. for the Connoisseur Collection” and a pair of Donna Pellegrino Furniture white leather swivel chairs from the “Girelle” collection.
On Sunday, July 25, Kaminski presents a second day of auction featuring the contents of various estates. Preview times are as usual at the gallery July 19-23, Monday-Friday 10 am to 5 pm, day of the auction beginning at 8 am, and the preview is open while the auction is live.
