COPAKE, N.Y. — Copake will present an online unreserved estate auction on Saturday, February 12, at 10 am (EST).
Featured will be 823 lots of estate Eighteenth and Nineteenth Century furniture, artwork, folk art, political items, period accessories, china, glass, stoneware, primitives and more.
The sale also includes session two of the Myron and Carolyn Neugeboren collection featuring masterful contemporary folk art, period furniture and accessories.
This well-known collection has been featured in Yankee Magazine and the Litchfield County Times. According to Mike Fallon, “They had a keen eye for modern folk art and collected some of the best artists in that genre, including names such as Gil Russell, Larry Koosed, Don Cadoret, Bruce Murphy, Walter and June Gotshall, Barbara Strawser, Gina Hosfeld, Bill and Phyllis Duffy, William Kautz and more.”
Highlights include a pig weathervane, 28 by 16¾ inches ($2,5/3,500); A Nineteenth Century French Empire chair ($800-$1,200); a circa 1900-10 Ringling Bros. And Barnum & Bailey Circus poster ($500/700); and a rare 1864 sepia photo campaign badge of Lincoln and Johnson. 1 by ¾ inches ($300/400).
From the Neugeboren estate come a circa 1900-15 Amish wool quilt made by Emma Stoltzfus, 88 by 88 inches ($500/700); a swing-handle Nantucket basket, labeled underside “Made by Ferdinand Sylvaro” (1868-1952), Nantucket native of Portuguese descent ($300/500); a Barbara Strawser (Twentieth Century) farmscape, 30 by 52 inches ($200/300); and a Bruce Murphy (Twentieth Century) carving of woman feeding ducks. 18½ by 11 by 12½ inches ($50/100).
