Friday March 18, 2022: General Railroadiana, China, Silver, Telegraph Equipment, Lanterns, Locks, Builders Plates, Annual Passes, and More. This two-day event will be opened with a nice selection of general Railroadiana from the collection of Harold Jones was a prolific collector of CB&Q and B&MR Railroadiana. Some of the Railroadiana included in the first day includes locks, lanterns, uniforms, small signage, trust plates, lamps, telegraph equipment, wax sealers, caps, smaller whistles, step boxes, Leslie Super Typhon horn, pocket watches including a Hamilton 992B, framed railroad photographs and advertisements, and other railroad related tools and hardware.
One of the main focuses of this day are china, silver, and uniform caps, badges, and other assorted
small items. The china is highlighted by a large selection on of CB&Q china with patterns including Violets and Daisies, Blackhawk, and Aristocrat. Other notable china includes a 1903 American Association on of Dining Car Superintendents 5th Semi-Annual Convention on plate, C&NW 400 Flambeau plate, Union Pacific, Soo Line, and Pullman china.
The CB&Q and California Zephyr are both well represented in our selection on of silver. There are several pieces both marked for the Burlington as well as marked for the California Zephyr. Also included is a selection on of flat ware for the Burlington, California Zephyr, and other railroads. This session will conclude with our first selections from the railroad advertising collection of Charles Stats. Mr. Stats collection of advertising, railroad published photographs, and builders’ photos is a true treasure trove with items spanning from the 1850s un???? l the 1970s. The core of his collection centered around railroads that served Chicago including the Milwaukee Road, Chicago & Northwestern, and others.

A full size 1903 B&MR / CB&Q wooden caboose, full size CB&Q troop kitchen car, Burlington and Missouri River Railroad velocipede, full size train order signal, full size WRS crossing gates, GRS double headed searchlight signal, locomotive control stand and engineers seat, GRS Type K CTC machine from Lincoln, Nebraska, Griswold Gate Tower control panel, Williams Amusement Devices gas powered ride on amusement park train with track, multiple Fairmont motor cars, Western Railroad Supply Wig Wag signal, Crosby three chime steam whistle, Lunkenheimer steam whistle, a fine assortment of lanterns many with extended base or cast globes, US&S double B semaphore, CB&Q porcelain sign, CB&Q lanterns, CB&Q / B&MR cabinets & ticket cabinets, historical books, documents, and photographs related to the CB&Q, some dating back into the late 1800’s.
Spread throughout this session are historical railroad advertising posters and photographs from noted
Chicago area railroad historian Charles Stats. Highlights from Mr. Stats collections include an incredibly
scare Frederick Gutekunst framed photograph of the Pennsylvania Railroad’s Rockville Bridge, Chicago
and Northwestern Railroad “Ride the 400 Fleet” advertising poster, numerous American Locomotive
Works builders photographs including a New York Central streamlined Dreyfuss Hudson, Northern Pacific Railroad- Alaska – Sydney Laurence advertising poster, framed Detroit Advertising Co. posters from both the Rock Island and C&NW railroads, Colorado & Southern Railway framed Chromolithography featuring Clear Creek Canon, and many other scare advertising posters, broadsheets, and timetables.
We will also feature additional Railroadiana from the collection of Brian Maiher including an assortment
of whistles and locomotive horns, early lamps and lanterns, builders’ plates, signage, and more.
