PHILADELPHIA — On Wednesday, May 11, Kamelot Auctions is having its annual, highly anticipated garden sale, followed by a stately architectural sale on Tuesday, May 17. These sales showcase collections of garden, patio and architectural antiques that are sure to complete the spirit and style of any space. Bidding will commence at 11 am on Wednesday, May 11. Buyers are welcome to leave phone and absentee bids, as well as bid online via LiveAuctioneers, Invaluable and the Kamelot website.
The garden sale features a selection of eclectic outdoor furniture to complement one’s dining needs. With warm weather on the way, guests will be impressed by a set of six French iron spring chairs with multicolored paint ($400/600). For a quiet spot to have one’s morning coffee a Salterini iron and glass top coffee table, circa 1960, has an estimate of $300/400. Summer brings rest and relaxation with six pieces of Knoll patio furniture designed by Richard Schultz ($600/800).
For those with a green thumb, Kamelot has on offer a wide selection of planters and urns to showcase garden wonders. A pair of Nineteenth Century English terracotta planters resting on a modern pair of terracotta pedestals will add humble grandeur to an entryway or garden space ($600/900). A modern aesthetic is evinced with four Willy Guhl square cast stone planters, circa 1970. Reminiscent of small Richard Serra sculptures, these planters have an estimate of $1/1,500. Finishing touches to an outdoor space include many decorative, marble stone and brass objects, such as a pair of carved stone recumbent lions ($1,2/1,800).
For those looking to expand the interiors of the home, Kamelot’s May 17 architecture sale features a selection of doors, windows and mantels. Let in the summer light with three Gothic-style iron windows with hinged panels ($700/900). An antique and feminine touch to any powder room is achieved with a sink cabinet in the form of a Louis XV-style marble top dresser ($600/900). Finally, an empire stripped wood fireplace mantel, circa 1850, is estimated ($400/600).
The auction house will be open for preview by appointment from May 4-16, weekdays from 10 am to 4 pm. Kamelot Auctions is at 2216-2220 East Allegheny Avenue. For information, www.kamelotauctions.com or 215-438-6990.
