A fine and rare crewelwork Man’s Wallet for Gideon Woodwell, dated 1774
Dimensions: W. 9 1/2” x H. 5 “
Gideon Woodwell, Newburyport Militia Captain and shipbuilder (1720-1790), established Woodwell Shipyard about 1762 and assisted in the construction of the U.S. Constitution ~ “Old Ironsides.” Possibly made by Gideon’s daughter, Alice Woodwell.
Descended in the Little Family of Newbury.
