MIDDLEBORO, MASS. — White’s Auctions’ fall sale, Sunday, November 13, will offer an interesting mix of pieces for collectors and dealers alike. It will be conducted on location at 11 am (ET) at the firm’s gallery at 19 Jackson Street and will also be available for online bidding through LiveAuctioneers Invaluable and Auctionzip. This 575-lot sale will include a large selection of antique and designer lamps and furniture, including Theodore Alexander, Handel, Pairpoint, Emile Picault, Bradley & Hubbard, Maitland Smith, Stickley, etc.; vintage 1930s to 1950s bicycles (Stelber, Fleet Wind, Western Flyer, Columbia, J.C. Higgins); collection of Nineteenth Century Western exploration maps, advertising signs, vintage original gas pumps (Richfield, Gulf, Tydol), early toys; antique and art glass (Pairpoint, John Lotton, George Bucquet) and art pottery (Van Briggle); sterling silver, gold and diamond jewelry, pocket watches, wristwatches. Also included are paintings, sculptures, violins, scrimshaw and whaling, three 1836 leather fire buckets, Japanese woodblock prints, early carved ivory crucifix figure, stoneware crocks, Oriental rugs and Yogi Berra baseball cards. In addition, there are three panel friezes from the original molds by Chicago architect Louis Sullivan (1856-1924) believed to have hung in the Chicago Stock Exchange.
Listed artist paintings feature an important large oil on canvas by female Indian artist B. Prabha (1933-2001) and a work on paper by noted Indian artist M.F. Husain (1913-2011).
A single-owner collection of antique clocks includes an Aaron Willard gilt carved Lyre clock, Birge & Fuller double steeple clock with a rare original “wagon spring” movement and one with a double fusee movement, Gilbert Amphion clock with a Sandwich Glass pendulum, Ansonia circa 1880 Monarch clock, J.C. Brown ripple front Onion Top clock and ripple front Beehive clocks, circa 1840 Birge Mallory Triple Decker clock, circa 1890-1900 Seth Thomas oak office wall clock, Daniel Pratts Son Boston banjo clock, early 1800s Sawin & Dyer, Boston lyre clock, circa 1820 Boston banjo clock, circa 1830s rare Clark’s Salem Bridge clock, Seth Thomas No. 20 Regular wall clock, 1950 Herschede nine-tube tall case clock, Foster Campos cross banded banjo clock dated 1979 and an untouched, never wound Foster Campos gilt banjo clock with the artist signed (Tom) Moberg reverse painted panel, the first one made in the year 1995. An inlaid Chippendale-style miniature grandmother’s clock and others round out the antique clock offerings.
Other collections of note include a two-generation silver and gold coin collection of large lots of individual coins as well as proof sets, a collection of early German tin toys, including rare Gunthermann pieces, and cast iron toys. The auction will close with a single-owner collection of memorabilia of the 1960s/1970s music icons “The Doors.”
