BEVERLY, MASS. — Kaminski Auctions will host a one-day estate auction on Sunday, February 5, starting at 11 am EST featuring decorative accessories from a multimillion-dollar Massachusetts country estate along with additions from several other New England and Palm Beach estates.
Among the more interesting lots from the country estate is a burlwood secretary bookcase with three drawers and a fitted interior, a French-style two-over-two-drawer chest with extensive inlay and a Queen Anne-style three-drawer oyster wood inlaid chest.
Decorative accessories include a French-style bed with upholstered headboard and footboard, pillows and bed linens, an ornate gilt framed mirror with birds, flowers and scrolls, a set of four African wildlife limited edition etchings, natural wicker furniture, fireplace items, outdoor planters and various artwork.
The standout lots of the auction are a pair of life-size Nineteenth Century Thailand gold giltwood tall figures of a male and female that stand 77 inches tall, along with a pair of antique blackamoor painted wood figures, most likely Italian in origin. Both are from a Palm Beach, Fla., estate.
The Asian department features a pair of Eighteenth/Nineteenth Century Chinese huanghuali chairs, a Nineteenth Century Chinese carved bone oval box with writhing dragons in high relief and mother-of-pearl eyes, a Chinese cloisonne bronze foo dog censer and an Eighteenth Century thangka on woven linen.
Fine art on offer includes a Maxim Kopf (Austrian/American, 1892-1958), mountain landscape, oil on canvas, a collection of Southwest drawings, 1916-1930, by J. Benito Vigil, and a landscape by Twentieth Century American artist Margaret Gerding.
Sculpture in the sale includes a winged bronze sculpture by P. Jules Rau Beau, marked Thiebaut Freres Fondeurs Paris, from a Salem, Mass., collection. There is also a recumbent bronze lion statue by Antoine-Louis Barye (1796-1875) and a Francois Moreau-signed bronze sculpture titled “The Maiden.”
