PELHAM, N.H. — Legare Auctions will present a diverse, timed, online estate auction on Auction Ninja that starts to close on Thursday, March 2, at 6 pm.
“This is an interesting and eclectic sale with items selected from New Hampshire and Massachusetts estates,” said Leo Legare. “There’s a large selection of artwork from two private collections, antique and contemporary furniture, a variety of antique accessories, first edition books and nice coins.
“Among the highlights has to be a first edition of The House of Seven Gables by Nathaniel Hawthorne,” added Legare. “But with such a diverse sale, I would also say the sponge-decorated pine box, the D.R. Dimes dining set and Morgan silver dollars stand out.”
There is a significant amount of artwork with paintings signed by H. Sherman, Jean Newman, Pietro Pozzati, Helen F. Newton, R. C. Sinker, Vladimir Pavlovsky, Charles Heil, Hans Figura, Lois D. Norton, Tatton Winter, Virginia Strom Precourt, Alfred Czerepak and a framed Mount Washington landscape attributed to Frank Shapleigh. There are etchings by Karel Appel, Frank Benson, George Plowman, Frank Fairchild and several prints.
“When it comes to interesting and unusual items,” said Legare, “the Spanish colonial coin, Carolus Lll Dei Gratia dated 1775, framed Sixteenth Century French document and the Chinese decorated enamel box are novel lots.
Furniture in the sale includes an Eldred Wheeler one-drawer, tapered leg cherry stand, a set of four birdcage Windsors, a Queen Anne tea table and teak marble insert stands.
