HUDSON, N.Y. — At noon on Friday and Saturday, March 17-18, Public Sale Auction House will conduct a two-day auction. The March 17 auction, titled “Style Wars,” will consist of antiques and decorative arts. The March 18 auction, titled “Paper & other Collections II,” will consist primarily of ephemera.
The first auction will include a variety of furniture and accessories of numerous styles: Arts and Crafts, Victorian, Industrial and Midcentury Modern. A notable highlight is a group of handmade wooden benches from a skating rink in western New York. There will be a selection of large cabinetry pieces, including a glass English museum curio display cabinet, a few multidrawer cabinets and step-back cabinets in the auction.
Store display pieces, shelving, a showcase and a 12-foot counter, lighting, including OC White industrial lights and a hanging antler candelabra, as well as a twig floor lamp made by Barney Bellinger, and selection of artwork, including pieces from the Nineteenth Century to the 1960s (a copy of a Van Gogh painting, for example) will be on the block.
The second day will feature more than 250 lots of ephemera, ranging from postcard albums and maps to World War II posters and more, plus a significant collection of automobile brochures from the 1930s to the 1980s, a sizeable collection of press photos and movie star publicity stills, and a selection of historical Columbia County, N.Y., items in the catalog.
The in-person preview will open from 10 am to 5 pm, March 11-18, at 90 Green Street. Absentee and phone bids will be accepted. For more information, www.publicsale.com or 518-966-7253.
