SARASOTA, FLA. — Sarasota Estate Auction owner Andrew Ford has scheduled a Saturday and Sunday, May 20-21, auction featuring art, antique silver and early Chinese export porcelain. Recent sales included work from Peter Max, Picasso, Dali and more, with three of these artists again represented in the upcoming sale.
Additionally, there will be a Grandma Moses original, a farm scene, that is expected to draw great attention. John Trumbull was a famous and well-respected Eighteenth/Nineteenth Century portraitist who was personally acquainted with George Washington, serving as his aide and achieving the rank of colonel during the Revolutionary War. Included in this sale will be a pencil sketch of Washington, which Trumbull may have used as a study for one of his oil portraits of the American hero and founding father. There is also a Rembrandt Peale portrait of a military flag officer in full dress, circa 1795-1810.
Many more artworks in the sale include those by Joan Miro, Chagall, Peggy Bacon and Alfred Bricher. Jorge Blanco is represented by Ford, so there will be both paintings, prints and sculptures from his body of works.
This sale is also Part II of the silver sale with approximately 400 lots collected from early Georgian periods through the middle of the Twentieth Century.
Asian artifacts include Chinese export porcelain, more than 100 lots will be included, and then there is the imperial silk robe dating about 1750, mid-Qing dynasty and certainly having belonged to somebody important.
This sale will offer a total of more than 1,500 lots and also includes Chinese, American and European bronzes; marble sculptures and porcelains from the Seventeenth Century; and assorted Oriental rugs.
