ALLENTOWN, PENN. — The Baum School of Art’s 38th annual art auction will take place online from Saturday, May 13 to Saturday, May 20. Although the bidding itself will take place online, the artwork is currently available to view in person in the school’s David E. Rodale Gallery, Rodale Family Gallery and Fowler Community Room. All items are currently available to view online on the school’s auction website, https://givergy.us/baumartauction38/. Its social media channels and emails offer a peek at the artwork up for bid, as well as details on how to participate in this online auction. Proceeds support the school and its mission of enriching lives through arts education with programs for children, teens and adults.
The Baum School of Art’s auction continues to grow each year, reaching collectors nationwide. This year’s auction features approximately 430 works of art, including artists from the Pennsylvania Impressionist period of the school’s founder, Walter Emerson Baum, to more than 60 contemporary local artists. With the wide array of artwork, media, sizes and price points, there is something for everyone. The auction showcases pieces from artists such as Walter Emerson Baum, Will Behler, John E. Berninger, Fred Bees, Robert Blanchard, Robert Doney, Raymond Gallucci, Lee Everett, William Langson Lathrop, Hans Moller, William Persa and Ann Yost Whitesell; as well as contemporary working artists, including Arta Brito, Nancy Bossert, Val Bertoia, Sandra Corpora, Ron Delong, David W. Haas, Femi J. Johnson, Barbara Kozero, Emily Strong, Dana Van Horn, Christopher Willet and many more.
The Baum School of Art also announced two events to celebrate the auction. The online auction will kick off in style at the Premiere Party at the school on Saturday, May 13, from 6 to 9 pm. Tickets are $100 and include a night of cocktails, music by Roger Latzgo, passed hors d’oeuvres by Karen Hunter, and, of course, the artwork. The public can also visit the school on Thursday, May 18, from 6 to 8 pm for the school’s Third Thursday reception. This is a free event, open to the public. If you cannot make it to either event and want to see the artwork in person, stop by anytime during the school’s open hours: Monday-Thursday: 9 am to 9 pm; Friday-Saturday: 9 am to 3 pm; the school is closed on Sundays.
The Baum School of Art is at 510 West Linden Street. For information, 610-433-0032 or www.baumschool.org.
