GLOUCESTER, MASS. — Kaminski Auctions will host an onsite estate auction on June 24-25 in Gloucester at 33 Way Road. Sold will be the contents of a 20-room, 28-acre mansion owned by longtime Gloucester residents. This sale will feature American and European furniture, fine art, antique rugs, china, silver, jewelry, glassware, coins, garden sculpture and a Steinway Model O miniature grand piano, circa 1915. There are additions from other New England estates as well, including a fine art collection from the William H. Trayes art collection, which features several Cape Ann artists, including Jane Petersen, Marsden Hartley and Stuart Davis.
The auction starts at 10 am each day, and preview hours are Wednesday, June 21, through Friday, June 25, 10 am to 5 pm; on the days of the sale, the preview will start at 8 am, and the preview will be open while the auction is live. Parking is available onsite.
In addition to the paintings from the William H. Trayes collection, other notable artists in the sale include French artist Louis Ferdinand Malespina (1874-1949), Charles Sydney Hopkinson (1869-1962), Georges Laugee (French, 1853-1937), Leon Kroll and signed photographs by Ansel Adams.
Jewelry highlights in the auction include a platinum and diamond Burmese ruby ring, a Ceylon sapphire and diamond ring and an 18K gold Rolex Presidential Oyster Quartz GTS watch, day and date, model #19018, serial #6562254.
Among the silver lots on offer, there is a Georg Jensen sterling silver flatware set in the Parallel pattern with service for 12, a 13-piece place setting with assorted serving pieces.
Antique rugs include a Persian Bidjar carpet and an antique Heriz/Serapi, among other rugs.
Other items of interest include a Louis Vuitton wardrobe trunk, having an orange Vuittonite canvas exterior, an interior with two drawers and seven hangers, circa 1920s, the Steinway Model O piano, various bronze and marble sculptures, a Willem de Kooning and Pablo Picasso signed lithograph and an antique double-barrel shotgun by John P. Lovell Arms Co., Boston.
There is a large assortment of furniture, mirrors, chandeliers, sconces and a variety of Chinese porcelain and furniture. This weekend sale will kick off the summer auction season.
