Summer Auction July 30
Starting at 12 pm EST
GUILFORD, CONN. — Lotus International Auctions will present an online-only Hot Summer fine art auction July 30 at noon. All bidding will be done through Liveauctioneers. Bidding has already started.
The auction has more than 410 artworks: oil paintings, watercolors, etchings, lithographs, four Aboriginal artworks, Midcentury Modern, a bronze lioness by Isidore Jules Bonheur, even a vintage Guild model M20 six-string guitar and more.
Lyme Academy of Art is represented by Allen Butler Talcott’s two striking Connecticut landscapes. Harry Hoffman, another Old Lyme artist, is represented with three of his artworks. Pal Fried has four artworks in this auction. Aiden Lassell Ripley, shows off his portraiture abilities. Abstract is the subject of African American Elaine Crossley, while impressionism is the goal of Native American artist Frank Eugene Kowing Jr. Andre Smith watercolors are storytelling, while Hezekiah Anthony Dyer shows us the country life in Brittany, France. Robert C. Ludwig, has many examples of Abstraction in this auction.
In the last two auctions, all of his paintings have sold. Jack Wittrup’s, “Everglades Breezes” showcases a Florida landscape, and Michael Garmen always shows a fascinating urban scene with his sculptures.
Louis-Ernest Barrias has two stately bronze statues from which to choose.
This auction has a great choice of well-known artist printers. Tomoo Inagak’s audience of cats has one staring right back at the wonderful sitting group of felines. Guillaume Corneille’s bright colored lithographs make an interesting comparison to a colored woodcut by Leo F. Dorn, both in colors and subject matter. Earl Newman has two Monterey Jazz Festival serigraphs, dated 1964 and 1963. Andre Brasilier’s style is unmistakable in his lithograph. Sears Gallagher, as always, shows his excellent skills with etchings.
Call for an appointment for a preview July 27 and 28. Lotus International Auctions is at 2470 Boston Post Road, Unit A-6. For information, 203-689-5062 or www.lotusauction.com.
