Highlights from the more than 600 lots include a signed Louis XV ormolu-mounted table by Adrien Delorme (master in 1748-after 1783), a Cheshire family Charleston, S.C., Federal secretary (circa 1810) that was used in their home on South Battery, a Spanish baroque iron-mounted walnut vargueno desk, three large Mary Obering abstract works, all sold from the same collection of the original owner, a large Alice Walker pastel on canvas and a newly discovered Alice Ravenel Huger Smith watercolor marsh scene of cranes in flight offered alongside its smaller study, as well as a collection of Southern stoneware, including a storage jar attributed to David Drake signed “L. Miles” and an Alabama churn.
“Many of these pieces came from exceptional collections right here in South Carolina” stated auctioneer, Jeremy Wooten. “The Alice Smith is also being sold with the study and was discovered in a collection in Charleston near the Battery, and the Delorme desk was part of the collection of a decades-long collector here in Camden.” Wooten continued, “We just celebrated our first decade in business here in Camden earlier this year, and as I look back I have most enjoyed getting to know each and every seller, their objects and the amazing homes which these pieces have now found around the world.”
