BEVERLY, MASS. — Kaminski’s auction on Sunday, October 22, will feature more than 100 antique and semi-antique Persian rugs from a private collection. The selection includes antique Oushak rugs, a palace-size Oushak, an important antique Lori Kazak rug, antique Serapis, Persian Sarouks, Bidjars, Tabriz and an antique Kazak rug with a cloud band design. There is also a selection of antique runners on offer.
Additionally, there is an Old Spanish rug, labeled Patrimonio National Madrid, from a Belmont, Mass., estate, and a Costikyan needlepoint rug with floral design throughout from a West Palm Beach, Fla., estate.
Fine art on offer features a James Edward Fitzgerald (American, 1899-1971), “Oregon Coast,” signed watercolor, and a Jules Louis Dupre (French, 1811-1889), pastoral landscape with cattle, an oil on canvas, inscribed verso Vose Galleries, Boston. There is also a Nineteenth Century Italian School oil on canvas, measuring 48 by 40 inches, in its original frame from a Boston collection.
A large variety of Continental furniture from a southern Connecticut estate features on Saturday along with an Italian Neoclassical-style walnut dining table with an inlaid top and a pair of early Nineteenth Century French ormolu bronze sconces, measuring 48 inches high and estimated to bring $10/15,000.
Silver and jewelry include a Reed & Barton sterling Burgundy pattern flatware service for 12, a 14K gold charm bracelet and South Sea pearl necklaces.
A Newburyport, Mass., collection of gold coins includes a 1904-S $20 gold double eagle, a 1911 $10 Indian Head gold coin and an 1888 seated Liberty half-dollar coin, among others.
To be sold in place from a Boynton Beach, Fla., estate is a Nineteenth Century Japanese six-panel screen, hand-painted on paper, with a silk mat and wooden frame painted in Japan in the Meiji era, 1870-1900, and a Jay Spectre custom-designed marble and chrome credenza.
Other highlights include a 1925 C.F. Martin acoustic guitar and a Henry Thornton mahogany tall case clock, with a brass dial decorated with a moon phase and a sailing ship and marked on the dial “Henry Thornton London” (active 1699-1732). It has its original weights and pendulum and is in working order from a Beverly, Mass., family collection.
