ALAMEDA, CALIF. — Michaan’s Auctions’ November gallery auction on Friday, November 17, features notable names headlining the fashion, fine art and jewelry departments. Three handbags by Hermes and Louis Vuitton lead a sale featuring works by Constantin Kluge, Jose Vela Zanegtti and Keith Haring, while the jewelry department showcases a golden pocket watch and jewelry by Gioielmoda and Lunch at the Ritz.

The fashion department begins the sale with an iconic luxury handbag, the Hermes Kelly Bag in black Clemence leather ($5/7,000). Named for Hollywood star and Monaco princess, Grace Kelly, the large-grained Clemence leather is an excellent material for Hermes’ iconic silhouette. Next is the Louis Vuitton Vavin Bag in cream featuring its Monogram Empreinte leather ($2/3,000) and Louis Vuitton Wilshire bag in a neutral beige with a sparkling Vernis finish ($500/700)

The fine art department leads with Constantin Kluge’s “La Porte St Denis” ($3/5,000). Kluge, a Latvian artist who worked in Paris and Shanghai, was a member of France’s Legion of Honor and exhibited his work at the prestigious Paris Salon in 1951. Following is Jose Vela Zanegtti’s “Desert Landscape” from 1957, which highlights the Guggenheim Award-winning artist’s Modernist style, and a Keith Haring signed “NYC Pop Shop” poster ($600/800), itself an enduring testament of the artist’s desire for accessible art.

From the jewelry department is an 18K yellow gold pocket watch featuring an annual calendar with moon phase ($1/1,500). Next is a pair of Italian Gioielmoda pink sapphire and gold earrings ($800-$1,200) and a collection from noted designer Lunch at the Ritz ($300/500). There is also a selection of Native American jewelry ($400/600), featuring a necklace, among other items.

The November Annex auction is being conducted Monday, November 13; Tuesday, November 14; and Wednesday, November 15. This venue gives collectors a wide variety of jewelry, fine art, decorative arts, furniture, Asian art, stamps and coins to choose from. The auction includes more than 2,500 lots, most estimated under $300.
