RED HOOK, N.Y. — On Saturday, December 2, at 4 pm, George Cole’s Auction will include great gifts for the holidays. The firm is selling the collection of a well-seasoned collector with more than 75 lots of jewelry, both designer and vintage, a collection of wristwatches and Tiffany sterling presentation pieces from the 1870s. Also sold will be partial contents from a local Rhinebeck estate with items to include a Steinway baby grand 5-foot-5-inch piano, many Asian items to include Tomb warriors, large Oriental gold fish bowls, period Chippendale furniture, Sheraton, Empire, etc.

There is a rare find of vintage tiles by J. Romeu Escofet Barcelona, circa 1915, floor tile enough to do approximately a 10-by-26-foot room. This tile maker is the same one that made tiles for the Gaudi church. Also, estate merchandise from Hastings-on-Hudson, Stone Ridge and local towns, including a three-piece Jellif living room set with Oriental motif and a set four English dining chairs attributed to John Pollard Seldon, an inlay pedestal signed Charles M. Stowell, a collection of primitive furniture to include a four-door pine corner cabinet, harvest table, tiger and bird’s-eye maple three-drawer chest, four-door step back cupboard, rope beds and 8-foot painted settle.

There is also a selection of designer contemporary furniture, including Mitchel Gold, Sloan mohair upholstery chaise lounge, 54-inch round Empire-style dining table with 11 leaves. Besides the many choices of furniture and accessories there is a collection of smalls. Here is a partial listing provided by the auctioneer: Collection of vintage Tiffany & Co sterling, boxed 1878 compote 13 inches high by 12 inches diameter, ladles, Persian ice cream server, Renaissance serving spoon, boxed set six assorted teaspoons (multi-metal), Persian, Audubon, pair of Tiffany spurs, Tiffany Studios gilt bronze bulldog. Watches and clocks include Universal Geneve Compax Chronometer Breitling for Bentley chronometer, LeCoultre Memo Vox wristwatch, Tissot Turler Seastar Benrus 14K and Hamilton 14K wristwatches, gilt bronze mantel clock with porcelain mounts and a pair of garnitures, Van Cleef & Arpels bronze travel clock, LeCoultre Mystery clock, Jay Strongwater dresser clock. Pens include Jean-Pierre Lepine Paris, Graphyscaf The Ocean Pen 229/888, Montegrappa sterling and enamel pen commemorating the founding of St Petersburg “White Nights,” Michael Perchin Imperial LE #85/88. Also included is antique jewelry, enamel, Lava cameos, large cameo, pins, pendants, necklaces, earrings Victorian micromosaic, Etruscan, pietra dura and 14K blue topaz and diamond pendant.

Furniture includes Empire, Victorian, primitive, Steinway M Grand Piano 5 feet 7 inches. Architectural: circa 1915 vintage salvaged J. Romeu Escofet Barcelona tiles 199 square foot ground + 169 feet inner border + 170 feet outer border + 200 feet grey border.
