This sale features military items descending from Captain Charles Augustus Ranlett (Maine 1804-1878) of the fast clipper ship “Surprise”, including Civil War material from his grandson Col Seth Alonzo Ranlett (1840-1905) of the 36th Massachusetts Volunteers, and from his great grandson Col Charles A Ranlett (1874-1961) WWI veteran and white tail deer hunting writer for Sports Afield Magazine in the 1930’s.
