GUILFORD, CONN. — Lotus International Auctions will present an online-only Hot Summer fine art auction on June 30, at noon, Eastern time. All bidding will be done through LiveAuctioneers. Bidding has already started.
The auction has 425 artworks: oil paintings, watercolors, etchings, lithographs, midcentury artwork, 1950 French-style inlaid mahogany and leather faux book side tables, Japanese wood blocks, midcentury furniture — Broyhill and more, original Golden Book US History illustrations and the historic “A.D. 42” oil painting.
Felicie Howell has two bright colorful watercolors, “Beach Group” scenes, one dated 1937, and one with an exposition label on verso. Midcentury Modern can be noted with Sinai Morecai Waxman’s large abstract, bold graphic design. Jean Eliod Coachy paints a Haitian market scene that makes you feel as if you are there in the bright, sunny day. Nunzio Vayana, shows a lush Maine landscape scene with an Ogunquit Art Center label on verso. Barry Marshall represents a working boat yard.
Maung Maung Thein’s street scene and Ngugen Duc Manh abstract are works by well-known Vietnamese artists. Donald Roy Purdy has four eye-catching impressionistic artworks from which to choose. Alto S. Tobey represents the brutal history done to Jewish people in Germany in 1942, with his painting titled “A.D. 42.” It is a powerful work of art. There are more fresh illustrations from the Golden Book History of the United States by Alton S. Tobey. Frederic Walperswyler has modern watercolor minimalist artworks. Perry Marsh has many examples of his unique metal works.
Other artists include Joseph Antonio Hekking, Frederick Mortimer Lamb, Carol Lownds, Gilbert Smith and Viktor Shvaiko.
