CANDIA, N.H. — Schmitt Horan & Co., will conduct an eclectic online sale, which will include a good collection of phonographs and music boxes, scientific instruments including early Eighteenth and Nineteenth Century surveying equipment, microscopes and telescopes, wrist watches, pocket watches and clocks, as well as a small collection of gold coins and jewelry. Online bidding will be available through the Schmitt Horan Online platform at www.schmitthoran.com.

The phonograph collection includes models by Victor Talking Machine Co., including a Victrola II with brass end horn and ten discs, a Model III with oak wooden horn, a Victor II, Type E with morning glory horn, a Victor IV in rare plain oak case, a Victrola IX and several others. Other models include a Boston Talking Machine Co., Little Wonder; several examples of the Edison Triumph; Columbia AH, BI and Q models; an O’Neill Busy Bee; as well as other mechanical music such as a Regina 15½-inch disc player, a Celestina organette and lots of horns, discs and parts.

A good collection of scientific instruments includes surveying equipment, microscopes and telescopes including several brass surveyor’s transits with original tripods, compasses, drafting and measuring tools; model steam engines; two Beck microscopes, one with Nicol prism eyepiece and polarizer; two Camera Lucida,; an Eighteenth Century Dollond telescope; an E.J. Dent, London Patent Meridian instrument or dipleidoscopeas; a Cary & Co., London, early Twentieth Century star finder celestial globe; as well as many others.

A small collection of silver, jewelry and coins includes 14K and 18K diamond jewelry, pearl necklace, Alvin Chased Romantique sterling silver flatware set, a Gorham Old English Tipt pattern sterling silver flatware set, other sterling silver serving items, as well as a collection of gold coins including 1-ounce coins from Australia, Canada and South Africa, and American gold coins including an 1908 $20 double eagle, an 1880 $10 eagle and a 1909 $5 half eagle among others.

A large number of wrist and pocket watches, many in gold, will also cross the block. This includes a fine collection of early to mid Twentieth Century American and Swiss wristwatches by Rolex, Gruen, Omega, Hamilton, Elgin and early trench watches, among others. Clocks and chronometers include a good three train quarter chiming clock movement and dial by James McCabe, an early Nineteenth Century English table clock by James Field, a small collection of mid Twentieth Century marine chronometers including, among others, Hamilton model 21 and Mercer.
