Another standout is a large Seventeenth/Eighteenth Century Italian painting after Raphael’s “Triumph of Galatea.” There is also a captivating oil on canvas by Gustav Macoun depicting a view of Paris.
Modern and contemporary art is represented, with Toni Costa’s kinetic art piece “Dinamica Visuale” (circa 1980), and the American art segment features notable works like Louis M. Eilshemius’ serene “Moonlit Landscape” (1909) and Henry Singlewood Bisbing’s “Shepherds in the Field” (signed, Nineteenth Century), which offers a glimpse into rural American life. Additionally, a collection of 57 watercolors by Edwin Augustus Porcher provides a European tour through the 1870s.
The auction also includes a significant Nineteenth Century portrait of Edward Southworth, a prominent figure in the Massachusetts paper industry, possibly painted by the English artist Bagshaw. This historical portrait, along with a collection of European views by A.T. Bricher, adds even more depth to the selection of art on offer.
Furniture highlights in the auction include a midcentury modern console table by John Vesey, crafted from stainless steel and brass with beveled glass, as well as Allan McCulloch’s “Millennium Table” (1998), a unique mixed media and wood coffee table that makes a bold statement.
