1007) 18K Gold Key-wind E. Howard Pocket Watch: Hunting Case. Watch engraved “Presented to J. W. Ross by his father and to Tenney Ross by his father and to Lewis Tenney Ross by his father and to Tenney Kutz Ross by his father on their 21st birthdays”. The watch was originally owned by Lewis Winans Ross (December 8, 1812 – October 29, 1895) who was an Illinois attorney, merchant, and U.S. Representative from Illinois’
9th Congressional District and was given to his son John Wesley Ross (1841-1902), 1 of 12 children and also an distinguished attorney who served as President of the Washington, D. C., Board of Commissioners who in turn gave it to his oldest son Col. Tenney Ross who served as U.S. Army Chief of Staff, 79th Division, in World War I who then gave the watch to his son Lieutenant Tenney Kutz Ross who died in battle in the Korean War.
